What is CivicsPath?
A calm, ad-free study companion for the 2025 USCIS naturalization (citizenship) test. Designed for adults preparing for their N-400 interview.
Who is CivicsPath for?
Adults preparing for their U.S. naturalization interview. Most users are green-card holders 30-50 years old who've filed or are about to file Form N-400.
Is CivicsPath legal advice?
No. We are a study tool. We are not attorneys, paralegals, or USCIS representatives. We help you prepare smarter — we do not provide legal advice.
Who built it?
Deco Souza, a founder going through his own naturalization process. CivicsPath is operated by Grain of Salt, a small studio.
What languages does CivicsPath support?
English only at launch. The USCIS civics test is administered in English, so studying in English mirrors the actual test environment. We're considering Spanish and Portuguese for future releases.
Which test version does CivicsPath cover?
The 2025 128-question USCIS civics test (Oct 20 rules) — the version that applies to N-400 applications filed on or after October 20, 2025. We do not currently support the legacy 100-question test.
What's on the actual interview besides civics?
Four sections: civics (10 of the 128 questions), reading (one sentence aloud from a list of ~94), writing (one sentence dictated), and speaking (assessed informally throughout the interview). CivicsPath rehearses all four.
How long does it take to prepare?
Most people need 4-6 weeks at 15 minutes a day. Less if you're already familiar with U.S. civics; more if English is your second language.
What's the passing score?
60% on civics (12 of 20 correct). Reading and writing each require one correct answer out of three attempts. Speaking is assessed throughout.
How much does CivicsPath cost?
$19.90/month after a 7-day free trial. No card required to start the trial. Cancel anytime.
Why no card to start?
If CivicsPath isn't right for you, you shouldn't have to fight a forgotten subscription to leave. We'd rather lose a sale than your trust.
What happens after the 7-day trial?
Your access to study sessions and mock interviews pauses. Your data — streak, history, badges — stays intact and view-only. Subscribe anytime to continue.
Can I cancel?
Yes, one click in Settings. Your access continues until the end of the billing period you already paid for. No partial-month refunds, but no surprise renewals either.
Do you offer family or group discounts?
Not at launch. If you're studying with a partner, Partner Mode (a future release) is designed for spouses preparing N-400 biographical answers together.
Do you sell my data?
No. We never sell user data. We use Plausible (cookie-free analytics) by default; advertising tools (GA4, Meta Pixel) only fire after you accept the cookie banner.
Is CivicsPath accessible?
We aim for WCAG 2.1 AA. The marketing site is server-rendered with semantic HTML. The study app supports screen readers, keyboard navigation, and resizable text. Email accessibility@civicspath.app to report a barrier.
What about the cookie banner?
On first visit you'll see a banner asking whether to allow non-essential analytics. Plausible runs without cookies; GA4 and Meta Pixel only run if you click Accept. You can change your choice anytime.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Sign in to study.civicspath.app, go to Settings → Delete account. Your study data is removed within 7 days. Email hello@civicspath.app if you'd like a manual deletion instead.
