Where every CivicsPath question and audio file comes from. We use public-domain USCIS materials, say plainly what we make ourselves, and don’t claim any affiliation we don’t have.
USCIS test materials
The 128-question 2025 USCIS Naturalization Test and the 100-question 2008 cohort test are official US Citizenship and Immigration Services materials. CivicsPath uses the published question text and approved answers verbatim, we don’t paraphrase or “improve” the source. The N-400 application fields we collect mirror the official USCIS form. All public domain.

Question and answer audio
The audio for questions and answers is a synthetic (text-to-speech) voice reading the official USCIS text. It is not a USCIS recording. USCIS publishes its own MP3 recordings of the 100 questions of the 2008 test, linked below.

Smithsonian Preparing for the Oath
The Smithsonian’s Preparing for the Oath curriculum, co-authored with USCIS, is the gold standard for in-person citizenship test prep. CivicsPath is built on the same source materials with the same factual rigor, we add the digital practice loop, the personalized N-400 mock interview, and the Calm Mode for test anxiety that an in-person classroom can’t.

Dept of Ed LINCS recognition
The Smithsonian’s Preparing for the Oath is recognized by the US Department of Education’s Adult Education and Literacy (LINCS) program as a primary citizenship-prep resource. We don’t claim our own LINCS endorsement, we cite the source we build on.
