Context

The Depression began with the stock market crash of October 1929 and worsened through the early 1930s. President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal programs, starting in 1933, provided relief and recovery efforts. Full economic recovery came only with the industrial mobilization for World War II in the early 1940s.
